The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Md.) national team held three opponents to an average of two goals per game en route to earning the No. 1 seed for bracket play at the eighth annual US Lacrosse National Championships in Westfield, IN.
Defending national champion FCA defeated Special Forces (Mich.), 16-2, Colorado, 12-2, and the War Eagles (Wis.), 19-2, finishing pool play 3-0 and clinching the top seed via tiebreaker over No. 2 seed Nati Lax Bros (Ohio/Ky.). The Cincinnati-based program, which earned the sportsmanship award at last year’s event as Queen City Chill, also finished unbeaten, but yielded an average of three goals per game.
3d Select National (Colo.), which won the bronze medal a year ago, defeated For the Love of the Game (N.Y.), 7-3, in a key pool-play game to earn the No. 3 seed over the New Yorkers. 3d Select had a chance to finish 3-0, but let a 5-4 lead slip away late in a 6-5 loss to Colorado in an early rivalry game.

#2 Nati Lax Bros (Ohio/Ky.) vs. #7 Special Forces (Mich.), 9 a.m.
#3 3d Select National (Colo.) vs. #6 Colorado, 9 a.m.
#4 For the Love of the Game (N.Y.) vs. # 5 Utah, 9 a.m.
#8 New Jersey South vs. #9 War Eagles (Wis.), 9 a.m.
Teams from nine states make up the field for this year’s championship, the first to be held in the Midwest.
